LAKE PLACID - Good news skaters. With funding for staff back in place, this village's skateboard park is expected to reopen soon.

The town of North Elba held a special board meeting on Tuesday morning to address the issue of funding the Shipman Youth Center skate park.

The town board voted Tuesday to give $7,000 toward staffing and general upkeep of the skate park.

Jon Fremante, director of the Shipman Youth Center, said he already has an individual lined up to monitor the skate park and that it would be up and running as soon as possible.

"I'm glad we could work this out," Fremante said. "I think we'll have a good year."
